We're committed to helping you make informed decisions, so whether you're curious about, styles, or installation options, you're in the right place. Let’s get started!
You will most likely be required to get a, “Building
Permit” (i.e, a permit to have a building set on your property)
this is NOT the same as a permit to have a building BUILT on
your property nor is it the same as a permit to finish out an
existing structure to live in it.
It is important to remember the following when you are
applying to get a permit for your Alpine Building that:
1. You are purchasing a “Portable Storage Building” a
“Portable Shed” from Alpine, you are NOT hiring a
contractor to construct a permanent building attached to
footers or a permanent foundation/slab.
2. Alpine is a portable building manufacturer, Alpine
Buildings is NOT a general contractor.
3. You are applying for a permit to put a portable storage
building on your property, period, you are not applying
for a permit to finish out your building, that will be a
separate permit you will pull at a later date after your
Alpine building is delivered and you are ready to start
finishing it out.
Your Alpine building, as it arrives at your address from
our shop is built to pass a general rough framing inspection
BUT it is important to note that Alpine Buildings may not be
up to date on ALL county-to-county rough framing code
interpretation/requirements and does not guarantee ANY work
that you do, or that you subcontract to be done to the building
once it has been delivered to you. All subcontracted work that
is done to finish out your Alpine Building should be done by a
licensed contractor to guarantee that it passes inspection,
Alpine Buildings is not responsible for any work you do or
have subcontracted to be done on your building after we
deliver the building to you.
No, Alpine does not provide engineered drawings as a part
of your building purchase; however if your county or city
requires you to have engineered drawings from the building
manufacturer to get a permit, we can get our engineer to create
a building-specific drawing for you or a generic version that
will have all the info your county or city permit office is
looking for. This WILL be an additional cost to you so please
speak to your sales representative about this and ask about the
cost for your specific needs.
(Also keep in mind some counties will accept a typed-up
“Build Spec Sheet” which we can provide for you at no
additional cost so make sure to clarify with your
permit/zoning office contact what exactly they are looking
for and if a typed-up official “Build Spec Sheet” would
suffice for what information they are looking for.)
Yes, in general, you will need a permit to do any finish
work on your Alpine building to convert it to a habitable,
temperature-controlled living/working space. That being said,
depending on who is doing the finishing work the permit can
either be pulled by you as the contractor (so long as the project
cost is under $30k) or it can be pulled by the subcontractor
doing the work for you, but this can vary so speak to your
subcontractor and see what they suggest.
